Born and raised in Liverpool (UK), VL McBeath (Val) initially trained as a scientist and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for many years. It was only more recently she developed a passion for writing.

Her first series, The Ambition & Destiny Series, arose out of Val's interest in her family's history. After many years of research it developed into a family saga telling the story of one family’s trials, tribulations and triumphs as they sought their fortune in Victorian-era, England.

Once their tale was told, Val was eager to see if there were other ancestors worth writing about. That was when she stumbled across her great-great-grandmother, Nell. She lived in the late nineteenth century but was anything but your typical Victorian housewife. Her story is told in The Windsor Street Family Saga.

In addition to her family sagas, Val enjoys reading historical murder mysteries, particularly the works of Agatha Christie. In between writing her family sagas, she decided to create her own amateur sleuth. Inspired by Miss Marple, Eliza Thomson Investigates is a ten-book series set in the early 20th century.

Val now lives in Cheshire with her husband, Stuart and cat, Neo. In addition to family history and murder mysteries, her interests include rock music, Liverpool Football Club, and visiting her two married daughters … each with their own fur babies!
